Our why

Concussions are still a significant issue in sports that presents unique challenges related to athlete risk perception, injury prevention, proper recognition, diagnosis and management of the injury. This year (2023), new research publications surfaced that are changing the way concussions are managed and understood in sport.

Yet, this important information is not easily accessible to coaches, parents, athletic care providers, people who have experienced a concussion, students, athletes and teachers.

This is why HeadsupCAN has created this event.

“We want to make the latest information on concussions in sport more accessible to the people who need it most!” - HeadsupCAN Executive Director, Ryan Sutton

Our event aims to provide all sport stakeholders and athlete care providers with clear guidance on concussions so they will be ready to tackle the inevitable issue of concussions during the upcoming sport season.

  • Discussing concussions is necessary to prioritize player safety, raise awareness, and promote education. Additionally, it allows for the development and implementation of effective policies that prioritize player well-being and create a safer sports environment.
